Borrowing Policy

University community members may use the HKUST ID card to borrow library materials. University affiliated members or external users may borrow library materials with a valid HKUST card or Library card. Borrowing policy includes borrowing privileges, holds, renewals, returns, losses & fines.

 

Borrowing Privileges by User Groups

Faculty

This group includes faculty, professor emeritus, research staff and academic equivalent staff.

 

Borrowing Privileges


Loan quotas for different formats of materials: 10 for Media, 3 for Reserve, 1 for Kindle and 5 for Technology Item. Total loan quota is 150 items.

Request quota is 20 items.

ILL request & loan quota is 30 items.

  1. All book loans are subject to recall. The loan period may then be shortened.
  2. Borrowed items may be renewed at any time during the loan period unless requested by another user.
  3. Users should keep in mind the new due date after renewal. Each material has its maximum loan period.
  4. Books from UGC-funded libraries may be renewed until the maximum renewal period is reached. Renewal of books from other libraries is subject to the approval of the lending library.
  5. Only recent publications that support the rare materials circulate.
