A Great Success

Click to Enlarge The Library E-Discovery Week concluded with a great success. Overall, the event attracted 613 students and staff members taking part in our E-Discovery Challenge and E-Resources workshops. All valid quiz submissions were entered into a Big Lucky Draw.

A prize presentation ceremony was held on April 22 at the Library Multi-function Room on LG4 where the Lucky Draw and Active Participation Award Winners received the prizes from Ms. Diana Chan, Director of Library Services, and Mr. Edward Spodick, Associate Director of Library Services.

Participants found the E-Discovery Week activities useful and well organized. Congratulations to all prize winners! Hearty thanks again to our sponsors for their generous support!

Mark your calendar! HKUST Library E-Discovery Week will take place from February 14 to 18. Join us to learn more about quality electronic resources for your study and research. All participants will enter a Lucky Draw and have a chance to bring home our exciting prizes!

The more activities you complete, the more chances you have to win the Grand Prize!


What are the Activities?

To enter the Lucky Draw, you can take part in the E-Discovery Challenge and/or join any of the E-Resources Workshops. Spread the word. There will be special bonus prizes for active participation! 



E-Discovery Challenge (Two Lucky Draw chances)

  • Learn about the resources and take the E-Discovery Challenge by completing an online quiz (available in E-Discovery Week, February 14 – 18). Each participant can only submit one completed quiz for the Lucky Draw. 
  • Submission period: February 14, 0:00 am – February 18, 11:59 pm.



Online E-Resources Workshops from February 14 to 18 (One Lucky Draw chance for each workshop)

  • 16 online workshops will be held to introduce smart searching of various e-resources. These e-resources are thoughtfully chosen to balance the subject interest of all Schools.
  • Complete a short quiz at the end of each workshop to enter the Lucky Draw.
  • The more workshops you join, the bigger chance of winning!
  • Venue: Online (a Zoom meeting link will be emailed to you one day before the workshop).

Rules and Eligibility

  • This event is open to all current HKUST students and staff (except Library staff).
  • Each participant can only submit one completed quiz for E-Discovery Challenge. The same participant can also submit up to 16 end-of-workshop quizzes. All valid submissions will be entered into one big Lucky Draw.
  • The Library reserves the right to make final decisions on the award of prizes.


Presentation of Prizes

  • A presentation ceremony will be held on March 9 (Wednesday), 1:00 pm at Library Gallery.

    (Due to the epidemic situation, the prize presentation ceremony has been postponed to April 22 (Friday), 1:00 pm at Library Multi-function Room on LG4.)

  • Winners will be notified individually by email to collect the prizes at the ceremony. Winners must confirm to collect the prizes in person or authorize someone to collect them on their behalf. Should the winner fail to respond by the due date stated in the email, the winner’s entitlement to the prize will be forfeited. The Library will not issue a separate notice on such forfeiture.

    (Winners have been notified individually by email about the new arrangement for prize collection.)
