We look after library space, facilities, and physical collections. We help you use the facilities in the Library for teaching, learning, and self-study, including:
- all rooms
- study carrels
- study pods
- self-service lockers
We manage the collections and shelving so that you can enjoy browsing and find items in their proper places.

This is a new unit in the Library since July 2026.
We work across library teams to plan and align the Library's digital efforts, so that students, researchers, and colleagues get more from our services, collections, and data. We:
- coordinate Library-wide planning on digital scholarship, library data, and the use of AI in learning, research, and daily operations
- support the Library's assessment and data analytics program so decisions are grounded in evidence
- scan emerging technologies and practices in academic libraries and higher education, and adopt them to strengthen library workflows and service offerings

We help you navigate the information world for your learning, teaching, and research. We:
- develop students’ information literacy through collaboration with course instructors, library instructions, online guides, videos and games
- design and conduct workshops for students and researchers on research workflow practices and tools
- manage research output of HKUST, including publications, theses, and research data
- assist HKUST and researchers in open access publishing, research assessment, and research impact
- answer your questions about finding and using information

We manage technology applications and computing systems to support library operations and services:
- oversee and maintain the Library's integrated systems, manage users' access to electronic resources
- develop and manage library applications such as room booking, websites, access gates control, tech-item kiosk, and many more
- develop software and digital platforms for digital collections, including our institutional repositories, University Archives, and Special Collections
- foster IT collaboration between the Library and campus partners, such as theses submission, HKUST card access
- manage servers, ensure cybersecurity, and monitor the performance of the Library's IT systems
- maintain computing equipment and keep them updated; we offer technical assistance when needed
