Mission
Develop students’ information, research, data, and GenAI literacy abilities to strengthen and support their powers of analysis, creativity, and rationality as they seek, find, select, modify, and create knowledge effectively and ethically across their lives.
Program
Our information literacy program for UGs and PGs is based on a set of intended learning outcomes (ILOs) offered by a mixture of workshops and self-directed online learning materials (Library Guides, e-learning videos & games).

Undergraduate (UG) Program
The Library aims to help students develop critical thinking, and research abilities.
How? By working closely with schools, university offices, programs and individual faculty members to embed information and GenAI literacy instruction into undergraduate courses, from their first-year orientation to their final-year capstone project.
Goal
Help new students familiarize themselves with the information and research environment, search tools, & services available at a university.

Goal
Lay the foundations of information literacy for UGs: searching, evaluating, and using reliable information and data.

Goal
- Build up students’ ability to navigate and use the information environment in their subject disciplines.
- Build on previous learning to enable students to do independent research in their disciplines and start to contribute knowledge to their fields.
Library Support
Work closely with instruction and program leaders, Library offers course-embedded workshops to Year 2-4 UGs. Some of these collaborations are “deep” collaboration, using methods such as multiple workshops, students submitting required research plans and having coaching sessions with librarians, and librarian-faculty member shared assessment of student work.

Postgraduate (PG) Program
Library supports PG students and researchers through the Researchers’ Series, a program aligned with key stages of the research cycle. Many workshops qualify for Professional Development Course (PDC) credits for RPG students.
Goal
A program to support PG students and researchers through seminars and workshops aligned with 6 key stages of the research cycle. Most sessions are qualified for Professional Development Course (PDC) for RPGs.

Open Workshops
Library offers a variety of open workshops for all students and staff who wish to strengthen their information and research skills, including the use of GenAi tools for research. Most workshops are held online and led by Library staff, sometimes in collaboration with other campus units.

Self-Directed Learning
Library provides a rich collection of self-directed learning resources, including online tutorials, videos, and guides that students can access anytime to build their information, research, data, and GenAI literacy abilities at their own pace.
Goal
A flexible, self-paced mini-course to help students explore and evaluate AI tools that can enhance their research workflow, from literature review to content generation, with a critical understanding of ethical use.
