International Conference on Developing Digital Institutional Repositories: Experiences and Challenges

There is a growing interest among academic and research libraries in the establishment of digital repositories that allow global access to scholarly outputs and learning contents created by their institutions. A number of digital institutional repositories in the U.S., Europe, and Asia will be highlighted at this conference. They are chosen to accentuate different IR implementation models adopted by diverse institutions to motivate the archiving, management, and disclosure of scholarly outputs and intellectual assets across a wide range of disciplines found within academic and research institutions. Co-organized by the California Institute of Technology Libraries and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Library, overall the program is designed to help conference attendees to envision and implement a plan at their own institution which builds on the experiences of others and tries to minimize complexity and cost of a digital IR implementation.

Registration

• Registration fee is US$100 (HK$780) on or before October 1, 2004 and US$125 (HK$975) after October 1, which includes a welcoming reception and 2 lunches. Since seats are limited, registration will be accepted on a first-come first-served basis. No on-site registration.
• You may register by filling out the conference registration form(Closed) and providing credit card information or by sending a completed registration form (with a check payable to “HKUST”).
• Registration will be confirmed upon receipt of payment.

Accommodation

Two hotels in Hong Kong will offer special room rates to conference participants. They are conveniently located in Tsimshatsui, the heart of Kowloon, and have public transportation easily to other parts of H.K. (see Tsimshatsui map) Buses will be provided to international attendees between conference hotels and the HKUST campus.
