Systems Project Assistant (Systems & Digital Services)
Part-time appointments from January – May 2026.
Duties
The Library launched a GPT-based chatbot on its homepage and need to keep improve/fine tuning. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to assist in evaluate the chatbot’s responses based on user feedback and migrate to new Library Homepage System. The successful candidate will work closely with library IT staff. Duties include but not limited to:
- Fine tune and improve the chatbot performance/result from user feedback and behaviour.
- Help to migrate and integrate current chatbot to new Library system.
- Create new web scrapper program for new Library Homepage content to Chatbot knowledge.
- Participating in deep technical development tasks to improve chatbot services if the appointee possesses sufficient IT programming skills.
- Other IT related projects in Library.
Highly Desirable Qualities
Applicant has experience and knowledge on API framework, LangChain, Python, PHP, CSS and JavaScript will be an advantage. A creative mind and being user-oriented are essential qualities. Expecting excellent communication and collaboration skills, ability to work independently, can take initiative and strong problem-solving skills.

Student Helper (Resource Management)
Part-time appointments from January – 29 May 2026.
Duties
- Assist in updating and verifying records in the library system
- Checking access of library e-resources and records
- Unpacking/checking incoming materials, scanning invoices and filing
- End-processing library materials, e.g., stamp and label
- Assist in the preparation of journal binding
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Good command of Chinese and knowledge in 漢語拼音 & Chinese inputting
- Good command of English
- Responsible, well organized, attention to details and ability to work accurately
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word
- Experience in searching Library Discovery Tool, databases and Internet

HK$68 per hour (maximum 17 hrs/week in Jan, maximum 10 hrs/wk in Feb-May)

Student Helper (Access Services)

Duties
- Provide service at the G/F Service Counter. Duties include checking out and checking in library materials, monitoring access gate, answering general enquiries, helping users to search books and tidying up at library closing.
- Work on library floors for other Access Services duties, including shelving, shelf-reading, patrolling, handling newspapers, and providing LC helpdesk services.
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Provide support for the Division of Humanities’ faculty members and the Library in developing digital humanities projects.
- The role involves digitization and web development for digital humanities tools.
- Explore various ways to create a useful digital humanities tool.
- Explore different approaches to creating an effective digital humanities tool.
Requirements
- Be able to work independently, be responsible and attentive to details.
- Students with a background in computer science and computer engineering are highly preferred.
- Candidates with an interest in humanities, classics, and natural language processing will have an advantage.
- Preference will be given to students pursuing a career in academic research. You will have the opportunity to work closely with Humanities faculty and gain mentorship.
