Map Catalog
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) Library has a special collection of antique maps. They date from the 15th century through the 19th century and show the growth of knowledge about the geography of China and the surrounding region.
An exhibition featuring this collection is on display in the University Library Gallery from 15 September 1995 to 31 January 1996.
Some people have asked if a catalog would be printed of this exhibit or of the entire collection. The Library plans to produce a printed catalog of this collection eventually. For the time being, the Library is having the collection photographed, and the images will be digitized and made available on its World-Wide Web server. This is a process which will take several months, but which will prove useful and rewarding for years to come.
