本展覽名為「流光·時黑」。黑，一份神秘的懸念，盤旋於個人與集體、記憶與遺忘、過去與現在之間。谷淑美透過陪伴老邁的母親、及重返舊居的切身經驗，細察生命和城市的變化，從中參悟時間的本質。其作品風格新穎獨特，影像魅力攝人。
谷淑美利用現今流行的通訊設備──手機，以新穎的全景模式拍攝手法，創作出令人驚嘆的黑屏和變形效果的圖像。全景照片用途廣泛但不常見，要有精緻的技巧才能拍出佳作。作品運用直接攝影的方法，不經任何後期製作修改。
總體而言，黑屏和變形的美學效果增強了作品所要表達的象徵意義，予人一種莫名的失落感。某些在我們身上的東西正在溜走──誠如她母親所說：“恍如在夢中”。
展覽包括兩個相關的子主題：
“時間與存在”聚焦於她投射在母親患病和康復期間的情感世界，從而折射人類在老化過程中共同的生存狀態，及表達一份關愛的情懷。
“時間與空間”將對記憶和空間的關注從個人層面擴展至社會層面，引發對城市、空間與身份之關係的思考。
谷淑美，社會學家，現為香港科技大學社會科學部副教授。於2016年獲得攝影深造文憑。作品曾在本地及海外展出。
