觀物於微:中外文物小品展

香港科技大學圖書館及人文科學部聯合主辦

「小品」通常指的是正常物件的縮小版。本展覽展示100餘件由新石器時代至清朝的文物小品,其製作材料為陶瓷、金屬、玻璃等。重點展品包括北宋(960-1127年)河北定窯刻蓮花紋水㿻,產於福建地區、後流落日本的南宋(1127-1279年)建窯油滴天目盞,以及產於公元1世紀羅馬帝國時代的意大利、高度只有約三公分的藍色玻璃小瓶等。根據最近的研究資料,可知這類文物小品具有多種用途,例如作為文房用具、擺設、供器、玩具,甚或陪葬品。

展品中還有20多件來自世界各地的文物小品,包括古埃及釉陶護身符、希臘陶器、羅馬玻璃器皿,以及東南亞古陶瓷等。希望參觀者能夠通過對中外文物的比較,感受到古代陸上與海上絲綢之路沿線各國文化交流的豐富多彩。此外,還希望這些文物小品可以喚起各位對昔日參觀其它大件文物的回憶。

Mr Francis Li, owner of the exhibits, will give the guided tours and talk about the exhibits.

Mr Li is a well learned scholar in the areas of philosophy, art and history, having had his academics papers selected and presented at important international conferences and authoritative journals. He is the Owner of Claire & Francis Heritage Lane, Academic Director of Savantas Liberal Arts Academy Programme and Advisor of UNESCO Hong Kong Association. He is able to combine his academic training with his passion of art, culture and society, and his initiate knowledge on Chinese art collection and put them in solid practice.

Participants of the tours can feel and witness the cultural exchanges between different regions along the Silk Road and the Maritime Silk Road. In addition, viewing and appreciating these small pieces can evoke the past reality of the larger objects they represent.

A miniature is a smaller version of a normal life-sized object. They can serve different functions, such as burial gifts, devotional items, toys or collectibles for literati. This talk will investigate the various functions of miniatures in order to show how they connected with people’s daily lives in the ancient Chinese society. Through studying the material and the design of miniatures, one can also understand the cultural dialogues between the East and the West along the Silk Road and the Maritime Trade Route during the medieval times.

Students will get course hours after attending the Talk for fulfillment of Healthy Lifestyle (HLTH1010) Course Requirements.
