About the TalkIn this engaging talk, Dr. Ullah will share personal photographs from his upbringing in Hong Kong to explore themes of diversity, inclusiveness, and openness. Join him as he reflects on how these experiences have shaped his perspectives and celebrates the richness of cultural diversity. Registration: https://library.hkust.edu.hk/ce/index.php/event/10588/ About the SpeakerDr. Rizwan Ullah, born and raised in Hong Kong, completed his education through the local system and earned his PhD from the University of Hong Kong. Rizwan has 20 years of experience in teaching and addressing the education needs of Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) in Hong Kong and he works as a Vice Principal in a local secondary school. Rizwan is active in his research in the area of EM Chinese language learning, Parental Involvement and Multicultural Education.
Also, he sits on various high-level government advisory boards, commission and NGO boards such as Youth Development Commission, Children Commission, Equal Opportunities Commission, Action Committee against Narcotics, Social Welfare Advisory Committee.
In recognition of his contributions towards Youth Development Work in Hong Kong and community services, he received a Medal of Honor in 2021 and a Chief Executive Commendation Award in 2015. Committed to helping refugees and minority rights, in 2014 he travelled to the United Nations in Geneva to speak about the issues of segregated schools.He has been featured in numerous documentaries, news articles, TV programs. He has received The Secretary for Home Affairs Commendation awarded in recognition of his dedicated service and outstanding contributions to the enhancement of racial harmony and integration to Hong Kong. Recently been selected as 2019 JCI Top Outstanding young persons and also 2019 Cathay Pacific’s Change Makers award and his beloved football team Manchester United recognized him as one of 7 Global heroes.He has been with Christian Action’s Centre for refugees for 11 years as a social worker and now assistant manager.

地點:李兆基圖書館香港潮州商會高佩璇展閱廳, 1/F語言: 廣東話完成此工作坊及展覽導賞的同學可獲HLTH1010課程中Wellness and Personal Enrichment 4.5小時學習時數及Voluntary Work 1.5小時學習時數工作坊及展覽導賞報名成功報名的同學需要先付按金港幣 $50元,完成工作坊及展覽導賞後全數退還。 講者簡介梁凱程博士 為香港口述影像協會創辦人及行政總監 ,於英國倫敦大學學院(University College London)取得博士學位,她的博士論文是全球首個廣東話口述影像的研究。梁博士是資深口述影像員及無障礙顧問,致力推廣口述影像及培訓口述影像員,協助視障人士参與多元化文化活動接觸世界,促進社會共融。梁博士具豐富口述影像實踐及培訓經驗,曾為不同類型的活動提供口述影像服務,包括:電影、電視節目、展覽、舞台劇、表演和戶外活動,如:世界盃賽事和盲人觀星營等等。服務對象包括港澳盲人機構、政府部門、大學、中學、電影節、博物館等等。如有查詢,請聯絡 Eunice Wong (lbeunice@ust.hk)。香港科技大學圖書館
