About the TalkIn this engaging talk, Dr. Ullah will share personal photographs from his upbringing in Hong Kong to explore themes of diversity, inclusiveness, and openness. Join him as he reflects on how these experiences have shaped his perspectives and celebrates the richness of cultural diversity. Registration: https://library.hkust.edu.hk/ce/index.php/event/10588/ About the SpeakerDr. Rizwan Ullah, born and raised in Hong Kong, completed his education through the local system and earned his PhD from the University of Hong Kong. Rizwan has 20 years of experience in teaching and addressing the education needs of Non-ethnic Chinese (NEC) in Hong Kong and he works as a Vice Principal in a local secondary school. Rizwan is active in his research in the area of EM Chinese language learning, Parental Involvement and Multicultural Education.
Also, he sits on various high-level government advisory boards, commission and NGO boards such as Youth Development Commission, Children Commission, Equal Opportunities Commission, Action Committee against Narcotics, Social Welfare Advisory Committee.
In recognition of his contributions towards Youth Development Work in Hong Kong and community services, he received a Medal of Honor in 2021 and a Chief Executive Commendation Award in 2015. In 2024, he was appointed District Councillor for Kowloon City District.
