Artist Biography
Professor Kuang was born in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province in June, 1931. He is a professor and a member of the Expert Committee at the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and a beneficiary of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China’s Government Special Allowance for Experts. He also serves as a consultant for the HealthWorks Group in Hong Kong.
Prof. Kuang was awarded with a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine from the Shanghai No. 1 Medical College in 1956. In 1960, after developing some acquaintance with Traditional Chinese Medicine, he became devoted to the integration of Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine in researching clinical pathology.
In 2007, at the advanced age of 76, he became an apprentice to Mr. Zhu Pu, a painting master at the Chinese Painting Institute of Shanghai. Since then, Prof. Kuang has endeavored to bring science and art together. In 2008, he established the “Microcosmic Conceptual Art of Living Systems”. His artwork has been showcased in roving exhibitions at The Chinese Painting Institute of Shanghai, The Shanghai Art Academy, in Shanghai Xintiandi, and at The Chinese University for the Aged of Shanghai. Mr. Chen Xie Jun, Curator of the Shanghai Museum has praised Prof. Kuang’s groundbreaking genre of painting. In 2013 and 2014, his collections were showcased at both the Hong Kong Jockey Club Ti-I College and the Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery.
