Alumni E-Resources

About the Program

The Alumni e-Resources service provides access to selected databases for HKUST graduates. Only HKUST degree holders are eligible for this service. Patrons must use their HKUST Alumni email account, provided free to all graduates by the Development and Alumni Office, to access the subscribed databases.

This service is intended to be cost neutral to the Library. Adding alumni access to our current resources can usually only be done by paying the vendor a larger fee. The alumni subscription fee is thus calculated to recover the cost of the subscribed databases. Due to the significant cost of electronic access to journals, most journals and other resources cannot be included in this service. The databases presently included, and the fee structure, will be re-evaluated before each subscription year begins or whenever a new license takes effect.

Terms and Conditions

Patrons may access subscribed databases in the Alumni Database Access list. The patron may download or print a single copy of articles, citations or abstracts for personal, non-commercial use. Massive downloading of any kind is strictly prohibited. Patrons may not share their login with others. Patrons who violate these terms and conditions will have their privileges permanently cancelled.

Subscription Fee

The annual subscription fee for 2023/24 (1 July – 30 June) to the Alumni e-Resources Service is HK$300, and the semi-annual fee (1 January – 30 June) is HK$180. A 20% discount is offered to members of the HKUST Alumni Association or to anyone holding a HKUST Alumni Credit Card.

Regardless of start date, all subscriptions will expire after 30 June. Renewals for the following subscription year will be entertained in June each year.
