🌞 Library Staff Making an Impact beyond Campus
People

In 2025, 16 Library colleagues volunteered their time and skills to support the wider community. Their efforts were recognised on 4 May at the HKUST Impact Makers Program Appreciation Ceremony 2026, where the Library received the Outstanding Volunteer Engagement Award for having the highest participation rate across University departments.

This award truly belongs to every Library colleague who chose to give back. Whether they supported community partners in buddy reading programme, joined outreach activities in picking debris at the beach, or contributed behind the scenes in sorting second-handed clothes for recycling, their efforts reflect the Library’s values of care, empathy, and social responsibility. They’ve shown that librarianship goes beyond our spaces and collections.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all participating staff for representing the Library with passion and integrity. Their contributions made a real difference in the community and strengthened our shared sense of purpose as a team.

As we celebrate this achievement, we also look ahead. Volunteering is a meaningful way to connect, learn, and make an impact together. We encourage new faces to join future volunteering initiatives and be part of this journey in serving the larger community. Every contribution counts.

Once again, thank you for making the Library a true Impact Maker. 💛💚💙
