Statista! Statistics, Charts, and Reports at your Fingertips
Collection Highlights

Whether you are an undergraduate, postgraduate, faculty, or staff, sometimes you want a quick and convenient way to find statistics, charts, and even reports. HKUST Library subscribes to several statistical databases, and links to many open access ones. But, one of the easiest to use is Statista!

What is Statista?

A statistics portal with fast and reliable access to over a million market data series on 80,000 topics from more than 22,000 sources covering roughly 170 industry sectors.

What does that mean?

The Statista company sources and pays for data from well-known marketing companies, statistical bureaus, and organizations like the UN and the World Bank. It makes a “one stop” search, and the results come with detailed source citations, so you can check back and see the original data and their context.

Cool features?

You can export the “raw” data in whatever format you choose: PowerPoint, Excel, PNG, or PDF.

Only raw data?

No! It also has reports for you to read and learn from, with quite detailed analysis of market structures and development, consumer behavior, demographics, and forecasts of market and economic trends in the next five years. It even has infographics that you can export.

Sounds cool, but is it hard to use? It is very easy. Just login to Statista with your single-sign-on. Then type in some keywords.

You can then filter by content type, like Statistics, Reports, etc. or choose location or year. It’s pretty simple and intuitive.

Whether you’re interested in ice cream in Asia or coral reefs, anything, you can find interesting data on Statista. Have fun!
